On 2026 April 1 CityShift HUB Retrofit & ESG Taskforce Kick-off Meeting was held.

At the first meeting of the Retrofit & ESG Taskforce, the key reasons slowing down retrofit in Vilnius were discussed.

Today, renovation is held back by low perceived value for property owners, complex bureaucracy, and fragmented processes. The lack of a “one-stop-shop” approach, slow design stages, and limited competition in public procurement further affect both speed and quality. 

As summarized by Taskforce Lead Tomas Astrauskas, a real breakthrough requires aligning technology, financing, and clear value communication.

The goal of the taskforce is to create a recommendations paper to fasten the renovation processes in Vilnius city.
